I am not sure if you are able to help but I have an inconsistency that you might be able to clear up. If you can I will be most grateful. .. I was in Adelaide last week Thursday 10 July. At about 9:00am I saw a flock of White tailed black cockatoos overhead. I had my binoculars and was able to confirm the white tail and cheek patches. The area was John Fisher Drive, Torrens Park which is at the foothills leading up to the Botanical Gardens. I am sure the birds were not yellow tails but the Simpson & Day Field Guide does not have either white tail in Adelaide. Our friends in Adelaide say they have seen the birds on numerous occasions and they have been told that the birds are unusual and not expected in Adelaide. When I saw them I was not aware there was 2 white tail species. I wonder if you have heard of these birds and can let me know what I might have seen. Thankyou in anticipation. yours sincerely Barry Lancaster |
