>From the 16th July I am planning an 18 day birding trip covering the Darwin
Area, Howard Springs, Fogg Dam, Kakadu (East Alligator, Malabanbanju, Yellow
Water Billabong), Waterfall Creek, Katherine Gorge and Victoria River
Crossing sites. I would be grateful to receive any specific site details in
trying to locate any of the more difficult to see species in these areas.
Any useful hints regarding camping / motels etc. would be most welcome.

Key species are as follows:

RAINBOW PITTA

Emu - UK birders do not seem to see this around Darwin ???
Letter Winged Kite - just a vagrant ?
Grey Falcon
Chestnut Rail
Bush & Beach Thick-Knees
Red Necked Avocet - vagrant ?
Banded Fruit Dove
Spinifex Piogeon
White / Chestnut Quilled Rock Pigeon
Hooded Parrot
Any Owl/Frogmouth stakeouts
Owlet Nightjar
Purple Crowned Fairy Wren
White Throated Grasswren
Carpentarian Grasswren - I guess out of range?
Gouldian Finch

Many thanks to anyone who takes the time and trouble to respond.
