John Other than: The Atlas of Australian Birds; Bransbury; Thomas & Thomas; and the usual field guides, I don't know of anything specific to Central Australia. However, when I was last there I bought a book entitled "A Field Guide to Central Australia - a Natural History Companion for the Traveller" by Penny van Oosterzee ($29.95 in Alice Springs) which is exactly what it says it is - a lovely little (184 pages) natural history field companion. You mind find as I did that it enriches your visit to Central Australia. Another little snippet: There was a small piece in the March 1996 Wingspan (page 29) by Jane Bannister about her Alice Springs experiences on the 1995 Twitchathon (90 species in the day). Regards Richard Nowotny. >Central birdos >In June, we will be in Alice Springs for several days.
