We are planning a trip to Darwin/Kakadu in July and, as I'm so excited by the prospect, I've already been doing my home-work. I've read through Bransbury and Thomas and Thomas in conjunction with my 'hit-list' and they seem pretty comprehensive. However I'd still like to know: 1. Which are the best (also most accessible, probably mutually exclusive), areas of mangroves around Darwin? There seems to be a list as long as my arm of things one ought to see in mangroves, and I'd like to see as many as poss. 2. Are there any colonies of Letter-winged Kites still extant in the Darwin area, or within striking distance? 3. Are there any really deadly places not in Thomas and Thomas or Bransbury? Thanks in advance. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Dr John Leonard PO Box 243, Woden, ACT 2606, AUSTRALIA " Old pond, leap-splash? a frog. " Basho @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ |
