Greetings Birders:
The BOPPAS went to two sites in May and here is a brief account of the
sightings. Should anyone wish for a more complete list I can email the
complete lists direct to them via email.
May 1st. Bellthorpe and Cove Road area.Approx.Lat. 26.51,Long. 152.43
60 species sighted. Only a small count but it was a grotty day complete
cloud cover and showers.Birds had more sense than the birders.Once again
ducks were scarce in the area, probably because they have a lot of water
around to choose from.Sightings of note were: White-necked Heron; Brown
Falcon; White-headed Pigeon; Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo; and Crimson Rosella.
May 19th. Peachtrees State Forest Park.Approx. Lat.26.40 Long.152.28
72 species sighted. Weather was fine and cool. Sightings of note were:
Black-shouldered Kite; Nankeen Kestrel; Wonga Pigeon; Horsfield's
Bronze-cuckoo; Azure Kingfisher; Varied Sitella; Superb Fairy-wren; Bell
Miner; Eastern Spinebill; Rose Robin; Jacky Winter; Crested Shrike-tit;
Green Catbird;and Rufous Songlark.
