For the infromation of Birding-aus readers I thought the following might be of interest to those who have library access. The American Ornthologists Union produced a supplement to THE AUK in 1988 (Vol.105 no. 1) from the 'Committee on the use of wild birds in research'. The committee produced a paper called 'Guidelines for use of Wild Birds in Research' and the first chapter looks at 'Investigator Impact'. The paper highlights some important considerations for both the general bird observer and the scientific practitioner.
