The main news this week is that we actually have a good bird in Sydney! 2 Oriental Pratincoles at Pittown Lagoon since Thursday. The first since 1988. They are highly mobile - disappearing for hours on end but if present are usually hawking high over the northern end of the lagoon and over the turf farms to the north west. They have been seen on the ground near the "viewing mound" and also on the NW edge. Highlights in NSW over the last week are as follows: PACIFIC BAZA 1 Berkely Vale, Central Coast 25/11 PECTORAL SANDPIPER 1 Pittwon Lagoon, Windsor 28/11 ORIENTAL PRATINCOLE 2 daily since 28/11 Pittown Lagoon, Windsor WHISKERED TERN 30 Pittown Lagoon, Windsor 28/11 and 6 there 1/12 CHANNEL-BILLED CUCKOO 2 over SCG (Sydney) during test match 29/11 CICADABIRD 2 Mitchell Park, Cattai 1/12 Chris Gladwin Sydney, Australia BIRDLINE NSW (02) 9290 1778 - sponsored by RAOU |
