Last weekend I was mowing a considerable area of long grass which displaced quite a number of mice. One magpie took great interest in this, and even followed one mouse under a car, after only a little hesitation. It chased it briefly, then apparently felt there were easier ways of getting a meal and gave up. Are mice on the magpie menu normally? -- Neil Waller Department of Environment and Natural Resources, South Australia Telephone: Oz: (08) 8204 9218; International: (618) 8204 9218 Mail: GPO Box 1047, ADELAIDE 5001 Australia |
