SYDNEY, NSW PELAGIC TRIP REPORT
10th August 1996

Those on board: T Palliser (leader), P Hansbro, R. McGovern, L. Bloom, M 
Briggs, R. Bell, A. Morris, M.Hicks, M Debinham, P. Milburn, A. McBride, N. 
Brown, R. Yank, M. Doyle, D. Hobcroft, J Reidy, B. McLean, R. Norden and R. 
Gardner (Thanks to all, for their support). 

Conditions: Departed at 7.10 am - returned at 2.45pm, 1 Metre swell, 10-15 knot 
SW winds changing to Westerly late afternoon A fine and typical Sydney winters 
day. The day started out with with only a handful of species, although once 
beyond the continental shelf things started to improve, particularly after 
locating a few local  fishing boats. Highlights included close views of 
Wandering Albatross (two races), White-headed Petrel and White-faced Storm 
Petrel. Also of particular note was a Blue Shark which was fighting for scraps 
amoungst the Albatross. Also this is the first August trip ever to record a 
complete lack of Prions
