This is a request to all those twitchers spotting orange-bellied parrots. The species is endemically infected with psittacine circovirus. This virus causes feathering abnormalities and immune system destruction. The feather changes are subtle at first and gradually become worse. Could twitchers that notice (or have noticed) bedraggled OBP's in the wild drop me an email please. _________________________________________________ Dr Shane Raidal BVSc PhD MACVSc (Avian Health) Lecturer in Veterinary Pathology School of Veterinary Studies Murdoch University phone: +61 9360 2418 Perth,WA, 6150 fax: +61 9310 4144 Australia email: _________________________________________________ |
