The important question to ask about the new Pizzey edition is "will the diagrams, descriptions and distribution maps all be together on the same page?" The few times I used Pizzey as a field guide I found I was always thumbing back and forth to get the full story. I also thought the Pizzey text was excellent, but as a field guide it just was not well organised enough, and I think this may be the reason why it became so neglected. That, and the fact that not all plates were in colour, of course... Bill |
