Ahh yes, gotta hate it when things have been modified without knowledge of the modifications :)  You can boot Linux on the 7200 from TFTP/NFS, so try what your working on that way first, then you have almost no chance of bricking the unit.  Booting from CF works much the same way, but you need a card reader and a linux dev box for making changes to the CF.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. After investigating another identical TS-7200, I realized what's going on.
The TS-7200 that had this issue was touched by other people.
I managed to edit the boot script and it did indeed boot from the on board flash.
The board has had a 1 GB Compact Flash as well and a version of linux was installed on it.
I was experiencing the problem that I had reported due to the fact that it was trying unsuccessfully to boot from the compact flash.
I am planning to restore the linux dist. provided on the wiki and get it to boot from
the CF. I inherited the TS-7200 without any prior knowledge of what has previously been done to it.

Thank you,

?  That doesn't make sense...  fis load simply reads the kernel image from flash...  HOw old is this 7200?  It could have a failing flash chip, have you tried loading a kernel from TFTP or the CF card?  The 7200 is almost unbrickable so long as you don't overwrite redboot.

Hi,

I did the command that you have recommended. After that, I lost the Redboot prompt and could never get it back.
Serial communications seem be lost at the moment.

Thanks,

Kamran

Did you do

fis load vmlinux

at the redboot prompt before the exec line?
