I think that is normal.  As you said,  /dev/sdb4 is an extended partition.  So  /dev/sdb5 and /dev/sdb6 is under sdb4. That is similar to sdb4 like a DIR, sdb5 & sdb6 are files.

I used GParted to add another partition to my SD card.  GParted indicated that there were a maximum of 4 primary partitions allowed, so I had to create an extended partition (/dev/sdb4) that contains the original 4th partition and the new 5th partition (/dev/sdb5 and /dev/sdb6).  Normally, during bootup linuxrc-sdroot assigns /dev/tssdcarda4 as the root file system.  Does anyone know where /dev/tssdcarda4 gets assigned to /dev/sdb4?  I need to assign it to /dev/sdb5, now that I have the extra partition.

Don
