Hi,
I was just looking back over my build notes and came across some quick speed
tests I ran on the newly built system:
# time ./adc_logger -t -z -c 10000 3 >/dev/null
real 0m 0.40s
# time ./adc_logger -t -z -c 10000 3 >/www/apache/htdocs/data/test.data
real 0m 0.72s
user 0m 0.44s
sys 0m 0.27s
But now when I run the same tests:
# time ./adc_logger -t -z -c 10000 3 >/dev/null
real 0m 0.48s
user 0m 0.39s
sys 0m 0.08s
# time ./adc_logger -t -z -c 10000 3 >/www/apache/htdocs/data/test.data
real 0m 2.41s
user 0m 1.60s
sys 0m 0.80s
Now /www/apache/htdocs/data is on a ramdisk
# mount
rootfs on / type rootfs (rw)
/dev/root on / type yaffs (rw,relatime)
tmpfs on /dev type tmpfs (rw,relatime,size=64k,mode=755)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,relatime,mode=600)
proc on /proc type proc (rw,relatime)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw,relatime)
none on /mnt/ramdisk1 type ramfs (rw,relatime,0)
none on /mnt/ramdisk2 type ramfs (rw,relatime,0)
none on /www/apache/htdocs/data type ramfs (rw,relatime,0)
none on /www/apache/htdocs/data_images type ramfs (rw,relatime,0)
# free
total used free shared buffers
Mem: 61528 19172 42356 0 0
Swap: 0 0 0
Total: 61528 19172 42356
So how has that write test slowed down so much ? Does my ramdisk need
defragging ?!
Also from my log:
# ./adc_logger -t -z -c 1000 7
0.110 1.206
0.110 1.196
0.110 1.201
0.150 1.196
0.151 1.201
First column is a time stamp
15us per sample : 6kS/sec
Now
0.337 1.2256
0.337 1.2256
0.337 1.2256
0.337 1.2256
0.338 1.2256
Test was run via ssh. Results now twice as slow.
Thx
