Hey there everyone!

One of the things I am currently working on is figuring a way to get
temperature readings from about 3-5 feet away from my board. (Using a
thermometer attached to about 3-5 feet of wire).

I have no free USB or Serial ports, and I was thinking maybe I could use the
DIO Pins to read the thermometer data. Does this seem possible? I was thinking
maybe this:

Does anyone have any sort of experience with this? This will be my first time
utilizing the DIO pins. It's my understanding that I would have to write a C
program to read the data, is this also correct?

Any help or input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks
