1. Regarding WEP - I tried it again and it failed ;-(
   I remembered I configured my router incorrectly, not using a shared key.
   I thought it was strange, at the time, but didn't really care, because I need WPA.
2. Did you try connecting with no encryption at all ("Open Access point")? Did that work?
   You'll need to configure our router to disable security.
   If you got that - no problem with the USB connection and you can continue to the real problem.

Sorry about the wrong info regarding WEP.

vs your WPA2-PSK method. -> no connection

Also, re-connected the WiFi Adapter from the "top internal" USB port to the "external" USB port to the left of the Ethernet port. -> no connection
