I'd like to poll everyone who has experience with the xnand fs used on
some of the Technologic boards. Is anyone using this in the field? I'd
like to see a short answer from everyone who has experience - Yes, we're
using it; No, we're not; We're just now trying it out; etc.
I ask as I have an image that works well booting from an SD card. I
moved the image to the flash (xnand) and almost immediately started
getting file corruption. At this point it's unknown where the fault
lies. I've has two massive file system failures in the one day where I
was using xnand. This is after weeks of development using the SDcard.
The hardware is a TS-4700 attached to a TS-8390. The system includes a
UPS that keeps the power on for approximately 10 seconds after the
system shuts down with halt.
I have to say that I am using a custom kernel (based on the ts released
kernel dated 9/1/11), and a custom root file system generated by
buildroot. Almost all utilities are busybox, including init and halt.
Support, especially Mark, has been very helpful. He has already
identified one potential problem where halt on my system shuts down all
processes including the xnand user-space utilities. It seems that the
Debian images the TS supplies have hooks to make sure that halt excludes
the xnand processes.
