Mike,

You can read more about the cygwin project here:
http://www.cygwin.com/

However I suspect you may be looking for one of the precompiled toolchains.
ftp://ftp.embeddedarm.com/ts-arm-sbc/ts-7250-linux/cross-toolchains/crosstool-cygwin-gcc-3.3.4-glibc-2.3.2.tar.bz2

We also have Eclipse already set up with our cross compilers.  This is often the simplest way to develop from windows for these boards.

I believe this process must be done from a linux system.  Take a USB drive and format it with one partition as type 'ext2'.  Download this archive:
ftp://ftp.embeddedarm.com/ts-arm-sbc/ts-7250-linux/distributions/debian-sarge-usb_default.tar.gz

Mount the empty partition and cd into it.  Run 'tar --numeric-owner -zxvf debian-sarge-usb_default.tar.gz'.  Though replace the archive name with the complete path to where you have it downloaded.  From the flash filesystem you can now run 'loadUSBmodules.sh && loadUSB.sh' to boot to Debain on the USB drive.  I don't believe the creation of the USB drive is documented anywhere, but I will make sure to throw it on our wiki when I get to the TS-7250:

Best Regards,

About four years ago, I successfully built C programs for my 7250 using gcc and Debian on the TS flash drive developer's kit. Unfortunately, the USB flash drive is nowhere to be found after moving to our new house.

I'm reading the TS manuals, trying to figure out how to fdisk a new flash drive and install Debian on it, to replicate the lost developer's kit.

In the Getting Started document, I stumbled across mention of cygwin, which appears to be a cross-assembler I can run on Windows, then transfer the executable code to the 7520. Am I correct so far?

The document says, "For cross platform development, the use of Dan Kegels' crosstools is recommended (<http://kegel.com/crosstool/>). The pre-compiled tar files for Cygwin (Windows) or Linux is available on the developers CD as well as on our web-site (www.embeddedARM.com)."

Unfortunately, the kegel.com/crosstool/ link doesn't work, and I don't see anything about cygwin on kegel.com. I searched embeddedARM.com for cygwin, but, although a lot of hits come up, I don't see any place to download it.

Is cygwin a free download? Where can I find it?

Thanks very much.
