I am wondering if there is a standard way of executing the WiFi driver at [Debian] boot-up? The problem is the WiFi driver installation is not permanent. It must be insmod'ed after every boot-up.

One thought would be to place a script
in /etc/network/ which, supposedly gets executed on boot-up:

#!/bin/sh
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.24.4/kernel/net/wireless/rt73_ts7500.ko

With luck, this script will be executed before ifupdown processes the instructions in
"/etc/network/interfaces", which would include:
     :
auto rausb0
iface rausb0 inet static
        address 192.168.2.111
        network 192.168.2.0
        netmask 255.255.255.0
        broadcast 192.168.2.255
        gateway 192.168.2.1

But, my guess is there is a very standard way of dealing with this ..that is obvious to those who know.

I would appreciate some advice.

Thanks,

RF
