Daniel, I couldn't upgrade gcc.

I changed my /etc/apt/source.list to:

deb http://archive.debian.org/debian etch main

It worked, but I had a problem when the program tried to install.

The screen show me that:

dpkg: `install-info' not found on PATH.
dpkg: 1 expected program(s) not found on PATH.
NB: root's PATH should usually contain /usr/local/sbin, /usr/sbin and /sbin.
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)

And the version of gcc can not be updated.

Any idea about this?

Regards,

Ricardo

I had the very same problem, what I did was a distro upgrade, changed my /etc/apt/source.list to:

deb http://archive.debian.org/debian etch main

then

apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade

Now I'm running gcc version 4.1.2 with Etch. I don't know if this can help you... Maybe you can upgrade to 4.3 from there!

Cheers,

Daniel
