Hi everybody,

I am using the TS-7260 board and I'd like to run Debian Sarge. First I set up an TFTP server in my computer, downloaded all the necessary file, followed all the steps as in the manuals and succesfully downloaded Kernel 2.6 into the board.

Then I did the following:

RedBoot> exec

Linux is uncompressed and finally booted from the USB flash drive. So far everything is OK. This is what I get at the end:
.
Starting NFS common utilities: statd.
Starting periodic command scheduler: cron.
Starting web server (apache2)....

Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 ts7260 ttyAM0

ts7260 login:

The ISSUE is that when I type "root" says "invalid user", when I type something different from "root" it asks me for password, but still can't access. I have searched through the group's posts and surf the web but I haven't found a working solution. I have been dealing with this issue for several days, that's why I finally posted. Any help would be really appreciated!!!!

PD:First I thought it was TFTP security issue but all the web search has thrown me to the /etc/inittab file, trying to bypass the login process or doing autologin. It all came to the same, basically changing the first line (1:2345:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty1) of this block of instructions (inside inittab):

1:2345:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty1
#2:23:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty2
#3:23:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty3
#4:23:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty4
#5:23:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty5
#6:23:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty6

I have changed it for

1:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty -noclear -autologin root tty1
and
1:2345:respawn:/bin/login -f root tty1 </dev/tty1 >/dev/tty1 2>&1
and
1:2345:respawn:/sbin/rungetty tty1 --autologin root
and
1:2345:respawn:/sbin/getty --autologin=clearconsole tty1

and some other but always  unsuccessful!! Any suggestion is welcome,

Luis
