Thanks for the TS-7370 step-by-step. I needed to modify the kernel versions,
but it's worked a champ so far. Amazing to see my files disappear on reboot,
but that's great!

This is because in the 2.6 kernel we started putting a VFAT partition with
Eclipse for our Windows only customers. It was easier to put it at the
beginning of the disk and push everything back. We simply kept this across the
board even when there was no Eclipse. The bootloader does indeed simply look
for partition types as opposed to static partition numbers, this leaves a but
of flexibility in the system.

You should check out our whitepaper of preventing filesystem corruption:
http://www.embeddedarm.com/about/resource.php?item=459

As well as a step by step for the TS-7370:
http://www.embeddedarm.com/about/resource.php?item=466

We also have a failsafe example for the TS-7800:
ftp://ftp.embeddedarm.com/ts-arm-sbc/ts-7800-linux/binaries/ts-images/failsafe-boot/README

Both of those examples are explained in the whitepaper.
