I have Linux GPIB installed on a i386 box and acquire data from scopes and drive our laser controllers reliably using a NI-USB-GPIB interface. The configuration file is easy to set-up and you can drive multiple GPIB interfaces at the same time if you wish so.

Regarding installation for ARM, I tried to compile the entire package on an ARM board, but got stuck because of some "cannot find */build "-related problem.

We also bought  a GPIB/USB adapter made by Prologix ($150) and had to admit that NI boards were a waste of money (the NI interface was around $550). This interface is great because it only needs the FTDI driver. Instead of using Linux gpib API, you could, for example, write simple python scripts that make use of "python serial" module.

Has anyone used a PC/104 based GPIB interface on any Arm board, especially a TS-7350? Did you use the Linux open source GPIB drivers, and if so, how much work was required to make the drivers work on the arm platform? What specific hardware was used? Any functional or performance issues?
Thanks.
