How much space do you need? If you need all the 8GB, you'll need some battery
backed "safe" shutdown. I think, that TS have something like that, it's called
TS-BAT3. Or you can prevent the fsck from the software side, you need to close
all files after the write and call sync then. I use this when logging on USB
flash disk quite successfuly (the flash can be removed any time, thus leave
the FS in the broken state).
