A driver foy my interrupt handler means!!!
That you are make a software at the software level  and you can not access the kernel level, you are upper than the linux, so every time you try to access a interruption you will make your application to wait until the interruption is generated, 
so the best idea is to make a driver that read the interruption and do the job, so you only have to read the answer.
