Well, I don't know how familiar you are with compiling a new kernel. If not familiar at all, I could upload or send you a late kernel image, let's say 2.6.32 series, compiled with console=ttyS0,115200n8. You can copy it with dd to an SD card and then to the onboard flash. If you know how to compile a Linux kernel, you could change kernel boot options so that kernel command line options contain console=ttyS0,115200n8.
