Flash is not a file system so you have to formate it .....
i have used omniflash it dont have any external flash and have no distribution
try entering the red boot and remove exec command and simply enter go it will boot the linux on flash drive but no extra utilities will be installed eg gcc etc

Is it possible to reduce the size of the Debian distribution make it fit on the compact flash of the TS7250?

Can anyone offer some links that might aid in this effort?
