Ive found the libraries for cross compilation can be buggy. I use the on board library exclusivly for builds

I spent the last year and a half slogging through this stuff from the ground up so I'll pass on a few thoughts. Being a Mac person primarily I wanted to have a cross-compiler running on the Mac. crosstool-NG is an excellent tool but the Mac results are mixed. A big part of making progress is eliminating as many variables as possible. To that end I didn't waste any time dealing with Eclipse, Cygwin, and Windows. The Mac-based cross-compiler works well enough to build applications through XCode but I needed to build additional drivers and I really wanted A) some kernel features such as iNotify and B) a more recent kernel. Ultimately to do any sort of kernel development I find it a lot easier to set up a Debian desktop system. No fuss no muss.

Following the included quick start instructions I have not been able to get eclipse to load in a XP of Win7 system. This seem to be a Java issue. Has anyone else found this to be the case and worked out a solution?
