Subject: [ts-7000] [TS-7552] N00b Question on accessing console

I recently bought my first embedded system to play with and picked the TS-7552.  Now that I have it, I'm trying to access the console so that I can start working on it, but I'm having lots of problems.  I tried using the included Eclipse Terminal that goes directly to 192.168.0.50, but it can't seem to communicate with the TS (possibly because my network is set up on the 192.168.255.x subnet).  So I moved on to trying the null modem cable, but it's not showing anything either.  The lights on the board make it look active (green and red on at startup, then red goes out after a bit like it's finished, and the ethernet port lights blink as expected).

Is there a way to communicate with my new toy?  Any help would be much appreciated.
