I'll go search the archives; I'm acutely aware of the strong possibility that
this is just an early learning-curve issue.

I'm running 2.6 (2.6.21-ts to be precise). Is the Technologic environment
forked somehow from Debian, requiring updates from a different server?

Quoth my resident Linux-geek:

apt-get was finding the debian server fine, its just that the versions it was
asking for are no longer on the server. I checked this by manual ftp to the
debian server and looking at the path. apt-get was failing because the server
was reporting 'Failed to open file'. apt-get also failed before even starting
the ftp when I forced it to install a version that was on the server, error
something like "illegal version string".

Here's the transcript
