I had a similar problem with the 7260 - I had to look up the PCB
schematics to fins the polarity. In actual fact it is printed on the
PCB, but hidden under the connector itself; at least for the 7260.

Yes - the Sarge image was created before it was archived, so you need
to update the sources list before updating. Although with a 7800 you
should be able to run a 2.6 kernel such as lenny without issue. I
recommend doing this because its far more up to date.

Look for the lenny image in the mailing list archive; I don't have it off hand.
