My plan B is to use a CGI program written in C (there are lots of libraries 
that support this...look up "cgi c library").

I'd really like to get a Debian dev environment working on a USB drive so I can 
get cgilua compiled though, but it seems no one knows how to do this...I 
noticed the other threads that reported this USB quirk (can't mount USB drive 
because driver can't read partition table) weren't answered either :-P
