Why not? I had my software running on an OpenMoko phone. It works fine. Controlling power to the USB is a new function however. What could be useful is a very small C program which can turn the USB off and on by itself. I can then use ctypes to interface it to python. The other approach I have seen involved recompiling Python itself - Yuk :) __._,_.___
