[ts-7000] dpkg Error while installing softwares on TS-7800

Hi friends,
I had got new kit TS-7800 from embeddedarm.com.I am trying to install packages on TS-7800.I am using etch repositories in my /etc/apt/sources.list.
apt-get update is working properly ,it is able to fetch packages list properly.
When i try to upgrade,it is returning with the following error.

Setting up dpkg (1.14.25) ...                           

                                     
chown: changing ownership of `\001 \002': No such file or directory                          
dpkg: error processing dpkg (--configure):                                                   
 subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1                            
Errors were encountered while processing:                                                   dpkg                                                                                        
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)  

What could be the problem?Is it problem with the space?
