Has anyone run into a problem with a USB sound dongle only playing a single
tone instead of a WAV file? Here's what I've done so far:
Erring on the side of caution I bought a Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro and
an el-cheapo Comodow PD552. I managed to build the sound modules for
2.4.26-ts11 and the USB audio module. I'm currently using just soundcore.o and
audio.o from the USB subtree.
I am able to play wav files with the Turtle Beach but the Comodow just beeps.
Yes I realize $20+ difference isn't much but since this is going into a
commercial product, every dollar counts.
I can see the Comodow spit out a bunch of normal-looking stuff in the console
output. I've tried several sound files of different rates and depths. No luck
so far. I've only found one Google reference to this problem but it's a guy
running on Ubuntu and he mentions removing /etc/modules.d/60-usb-audio which
doesn't exist on TS-Linux or Debian.
FYI, the Turtle Beach must have an 1/8" STEREO connector. If you use a mono
connector and play a sound, the board kernel panics. Probably means it's
shorting one channel to ground.
