You don't need a COM port to run Eclipse, only if you want to have a terminal 
session in Eclipse and I suppose some more advanced functionality, but there 
are likely network equivalents.

If you really want a COM port, get a serial to USB adapter that works on the 
Mac.  You can get them relatively cheap.
