I don't have that model of unit, but I suspect your issues with apt-get (at 
least in regard to your error message) are because you need to do what the 
error suggests; alter your sources.list file.  I'm guessing that your unit is 
running Sarge, or even perhaps Etch, and you need to point to the archive 
server (ftp://archive.us.debian.org) instead.

You can also make some room if that is your issue by removing packages you 
don't need.  In my case (TS-7800) I removed Apache and MySQL since I wasn't 
using those.  That made enough extra space for what I was doing.
