Success...

I was able to bootup in the 7800, and dd the entire sd card image to another box over ssh
on that box (a modern linux), I was able to dd that image to a fresh sd card and then boot from it

Apparently the problem is in using a modern linux to create the dd image, and it is able to correctly write it.

Doesn't make any sense to me, but whatever it takes.

Now if I could just figure out how to get lenny running on the flash instead of sd card I'd be in great shape.

hmm... I don't get that.  How does TS create their dd image for the SD card?

I'm going to try duplicating the image from the TS faststart...

Is it different?

Could you verify the checkusum with of your original and image copies ?

You may use cksum.
