[ts-7000] Powering down a Linux appliance - comments wanted

Let's say you're designing a Linux/SBC appliance and you can't guarantee that 
an end-user is going to shut the thing down gracefully or unplug the main power 
source.  You also want fast booting so fsck...well sucks and won't be used.

How would you deal with potential file system corruption?  Is YAFFS robust 
enough to withstand power cycling?
