1. There are tons of HOW-TOs on kernel compilation for ARM platforms. You might want to check some previous posts submitted by the members of this y. group. TS docs are a good starting point, too.

2 & 4. You must know the chipset in your USB card. Then go to http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Main and check there if it's supported.

3. ALSA is now part of the 2.6 kernel. All you need to do is to "enable the sound support" when you configure the kernel.

actually may knowledge in the Linux is very very shallow and i don't think that i can compile a kernel with my own or enabling amofdule inside the OS but if you may i have a few question

inside what i should compile the kernel the TS-kernel or the Debian kernel or both?

how can i insure that the model i have is work and i don't need to compile any thing?

thirdly what is the snd-usb-aduio is it sound usb audio model?

i ahve read alot about the ALSA what is the ALSA?
