Thanks Donal for the information.  It is good to know that the 
USR995700-USB USB-to-Serial Cable has the pl2303 chipset since that is 
the chipset that works well for me in my IOGear GUC232A adapter.

Are you using the adapter plugged into a USB hub?  If so you might try 
using the adapter in one of the TS-7390 on-board USB ports and see if 
that works better?
