Hi Charlie,
I finally had the time working on this again and just wanted to let you (and
everybody else who it reading this) that I got enough serial ports working.
With standard serial connectors you can use
COM1 as /dev/ttyAM1
COM2 as /dev/ttts0
(I refer to COM1/COM2 as the headers on the board btw. pin 1 is facing the
outside of the board)
With a 3 plugs in one connector (cut a standard connector and put 3 serial
plugs instead of one on the plug side - only need to solder a couple of wires)
you can add 2 more serial ports to COM1.
COM1 (pin 7 Tx, pin 8 Rx) as /dev/ttts1
COM1 (pin 4 Tx, pin 1 Rx) as /dev/ttts2
I needed to connect ground (pin 5) to all plugs to get the communication
working.
That gives me 4 serial rs232 port without any additional equipment. From the
sparse documentation I would never figured this out by myself. So thank you
everybody for guiding me in this.
Cheers,
Ole
