Hi,
Has anyone encounter reading garbage data from com port 2 (RS232) in TS7800,
when trying to connect a device via TTL to RS232 converter?
When the sensor (with the TTL to RS232 converter) is connected to com 2 of
TS7800 and with the sensor sending out data at 57600bps at 100Hz, I use a scope
to measure the voltage level at the TTL side, I got about 0-5V voltage level
which seems correct. Then I measure the voltage level at the RS232 side and it
is about 5-10V positive, which is weird to be valid RS232 signal and this is
why I got garbage data.
I use exactly the same electrical connection above and hooked up to my laptop
RS232 com port (instead of TS7800) and the scope measures between -3 to 5V, and
the read sensor data is correct...My question, why is the same electrical setup
doesn;'t work for TS7800 serial port?
I have also tried using same power source with same ground for my sensor and
TS7800, same problem perists. It doesn;t look like an obvious grounding
problem. Will serial isolator help? Not sure about that, since root cause is
unknown. Have also verfied baudrate set is correct. I use another sensor (2Hz)
rate at 9600bps and connect to same com 2 in TS7800, the data can be read
correctly.....It is onyl when my 100Hz sensor has problems on TS7800 but ok on
my laptop...
Have this problem for quite a while, anyone has any idea?
