But, as I wrote above, I already found the code and think it is pretty
well written and portable. Therefore I think it should be possible to
port it back to 2.6.21-ts with less time effort then the second
solution. What do you think?

Well I can't say for sure which would be faster / easier. Adding HRT
to 2.6.21-TS would mean two patches (-rt and yours), and would be OK
for users who don't anticipate needing a later kernel. There would
not be much future development, and you couldn't expect help from the
-rt authors fixing -rt issues. Also, the TS-7800 support is quite
different in the -ts kernel than in mainline.

Fixing the TS-7800 SD & DMA (any other?) issues in mainline is also an
unknown, but it sounds like Alexander knows what needs to be done. I
guess we need to know if it is "possible, just needs work" or
"impossible, needs info that won't ever come from TS", or somewhere in
between.

Probably adding HRT => 2.6.21-TS would be my first try, if the kernel
works for you otherwise. Please post your results & patch if you get
it working; I'm sure it would help others who need HRT support.
