I've been using a FTDI device in a project and haven't noticed that
problem. But then again I haven't had the program running for real long
durations yet so maybe I have the problem but haven't noticed.

The project is here:
   http://www.turbocontrol.com/simpleserial.htm

That program will stop with an exception if it misses any character.
Tomorrow I'll change the program to read more often than once a second
and then let it run for a while and let you know the results.

Paul
