Hi Christian/Sergio and group.
The type of partitioning you wish to use is all dependent on what you
want to use it for.
You can check what your system currently supports by doing "cat
/proc/filesystems"; from here you can select the format type you wish.
probably best to use ext3 for Linux usage, vfat if your into windoze
usage.
Here is my system output:
:apt# cat /proc/filesystems
nodev sysfs
nodev rootfs
nodev bdev
nodev proc
nodev sockfs
nodev pipefs
nodev futexfs
nodev tmpfs
nodev inotifyfs
nodev eventpollfs
nodev devpts
ext3
ext2
nodev ramfs
nodev nfs
jfs
yaffs
yaffs2
nodev rpc_pipefs
nodev usbfs
vfat
:apt#
As you can see from the above printout, my system currently supports -
ext3, ext2, jfs, yaffs, yaffs2 and vfat. Formats are conditional on
what kernel modules are loaded so, your system will probably support
more. For example when I mount a NFS fs via a "mount -t nfs ..."
session you would see that nfs is now in the printout.
Alternatively, if you want to load images and boot from the device,
you will have to use "yaffs2" I think is usual.
Hope this assists you.
Cheers. Grahame
