Well, at least *some* reasons to ask here, but probably not *first*.
Honestly I think the OP has a better chance of getting fast & accurate
info from a [net,Free]BSD list, rather than here.
I spent a lot of time trying to help the OP get his temperature sensor
working (earlier posts), even going so far as to download & install
netBSD, but I've exhausted my BSD mojo and time I can spend on this.
Certainly the *original* question belonged here (regarding TS hardware
& how to access it), but now he needs specific info about rebuilding
and/or crosscompiling the BSD kernel, info which is probably a FAQ for
the BSD folks.
[So as not to be too negative]: I *was* impressed with what I saw
running net BSD. The minimal approach could make it a great platform
for embedded development if it meets your needs. It reminds me of an
early linux kernel on slackware: small, versatile, stable & somewhat
arcane until you learn your way around.
