Sun server...that he is trying to run this code on a TS-7260 is

Novice or not, people generally know not to complain to their washing powder

I'm currently having problems with FreeRADIUS that is caused by a bug in 
glibc, this issue exists in TS's linux distro too.  Should I post my core 
dumps to the TS7xxx mailing list?

It might have sounded harsh, but unfortunately people are lazy by nature and 
instead of effectively encouraging this, or passively ignoring it, from 
experience[1] it's better for all round for a quick slap across the wrist and 
pointing them in the right direction is more 'educational'.

I personally blame web based forums...bah, we should all shift off to USENET.
