For anyone like me, who needs the ncurses development package installed in order to build an app, here's what I finally did to overcome the ncurses runtime version installed on the board when it arrived (which appears to be a newer version, from Etch, even though /etc/apt/sources.list references the sarge repositories): wget http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/n/ncurses/ncurses-base_5.4-4_all.deb wget http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/n/ncurses/libncurses_5.4-4_arm.deb wget http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/n/ncurses/libncurses5-dev_5.4-4_arm.deb dpkg -i ncurses-base_5.4-4_all.deb dpkg -i libncurses_5.4-4_arm.deb dpkg -i libncurses5-dev_5.4-4_arm.deb This will produce a warning about downgrading libncurses5 from 5.5-5 to 5.4-4, but that's necessary if we are to stick with the sarge repository (which matches what /etc/issue shows for the linux distro). PS: If anyone knows why this was a bad thing to do, please let me know. __._,_.___
