Hi,
I spent a day trying to set up the wireless network for my TS-7800 but
failed to do so. Specifically, I can't connect and get an IP address.
I am using a Aztech WL230USB adapter, and the driver CD had some
source code for the linux driver, but it threw up a lot of errors. In
desperation, I modified the kernel source code for the zd1211rw driver
to add in my own usb_id and rebuilt the modules.
Now, it sorta works, and "iwconfig eth1 mode managed essid myhome" gives:
:/# iwconfig
eth0 no wireless extensions.
lo no wireless extensions.
eth1 IEEE 802.11b/g ESSID:"myhome" Nickname:"zd1211"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point:
00:1D:7E:31:1D:AA
Bit Rate=24 Mb/s
Encryption key:off
Link Quality:0/100 Signal level:67/100 Noise level:0/0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
now, "ifup eth1" shows that pump fails to return an IP address.
I am a windows person, so setting up this wireless card is new for me,
maybe I have missed something in the process, but my Linksys router
did not show a "zd1211" connected to it. But I want to see if I am on
the right track, after all, I merely added my usb_id to the source
code to force the driver to recognise my network adapter. (BTW, I am
using the latest TS version, since I recall the TS people has fixed
pump recently)
Any comments are appreciated. Thanks
